Lonely ):

It has been awfully quiet here in room 117; at least this weekend it was. Lately Lee has been running away from home to see Jae and it especially showed this weekend since I haven't seen her since Friday night. And today I'm making the chicken she picked out cause I had no other meat to eat haha... It not a bad thing that she is out and all, it's just weird not to hear shows coming out of her room and her shoes by the door and the lack of the noise of a shower in the middle of the night, and lastly no one to make me rice ): (cause for some reason Leslie (a.k.a. the rice cooker) dislikes me and always makes the rice to wet.)

On another note, the housing situation has gotten pretty stressful since Cindy turned down our offer to room with us. Even though we don't know if that one unit is still there we would need another roommate but are unable to think of any good possibilities (well me that is, maybe Lee figured out something.) I e-mailed Green-eyes (Shayne) to see if we would be able to sign the lease and then just find one more roommate to sign the lease. But this would be a bit of a problem because the place is so far away from UWaterloo but is much closer to WLU which none of our good friends are going to school to. I just want Green-eyes to e-mail me back so we can get a definite answer! Ah!

Today I was being a lazy bum and haven't left the house yet. I feel the need to go across the street tonight to get myself a Green Tea Latte from William's... oh man my craving's killing me. I have been craving a lot of food lately and have been snacking like there's no tomorrow (at least over this weekend,) it's good that I'm eating more I guess but I don't want to gain too much weight! D: *pokes belly fat* nomnomnom dinner is in the oven and chicken will be done in 28 mins. In the meantime I have to study some more for my mid term tomorrow as well as for a midterm on thursdayyy! =3= I'm just so excited! Yea! Feel the sarcasm? I'm practically oozing it right now. I'm just posting on the blog as a break as well as to vent a bit I guess.

Lublub (:

Housing: Part 2

Hello~

So, yesterday me and Becca went on several potential residence tours. We saw a town house, some apartments and some three story buildings. After all the tours were completed, we were stuck between our top two choices: 202 Lester and 265 Regina. 202 Lester is really close to campus, it's a new 12 story apartment building with gorgeous amount of living room space. Unfortunately, the rent is a little pricey = $545 + $10 internet fee (estimated). 265 Regina is a little more run down, the building is older, a couple of mail boxes are missing locks but the tour guide showed us the exact room we would be getting, and it's very homely. The rent is much more reasonable = $395 + $56 internet fee for the year. However, it's not walking distance and we would have to bus to campus everyday. *QQ* I don't like the bus system here... but it is free! so I can't complain. Oh, speaking of the tour guide, he had the MOST gorgeous eyes I have ever seen. Me and Becca could not stop staring at him/them. We had him for several tours as well, so we got to admire them over a period of time ;)

After our tours, we had dinner with Becca's brother, Andrew, at Swiss Chalet. (We wanted to use a coupon there but we missed the expiry date by a day!) He's a student at UW as well, in his third year. His advice was to go with the 265 Regina, just because he felt as though the rent for the 202 Lester was too high. At the moment, me and Becca are definitely leaning towards the 265 Regina. We're waiting on our friend, Cindy, to give us her reply though. Since it's a 3 ppl suite, if she says no, we will have to find someone else. X3 I hope she says yes! I really like Cindy and she seems like a good house mate to have. 3 more hours until her reply... until then! I'm going to go attempt to start my CS 100 assignment #2. Bleh, more Excel... as if the first one wasn't bad enough!

Oh, and I'm at Jae's atm... :) Steak dinner tonight *love love* I'm so happy that my boyfriend is a good cook. He brought me breakfast in bed this morning, pancakes and maple syrup = delicious!!!

Getting Involved

Hey there!

As some of you may know, Lee and I don't normally go out... But I'm getting started! This week I signed us up for a couple of things. There's a cooking class, potluck/karaoke, and there's a pancake breakfast. I hope we can go to 2/3 activities; guess which one I don't really want to go to? Not a very hard question. (:

As well as getting more involved, I'm getting a tad bit more stressed about school and everything else. I want to do better in school so I'm trying to spend a bit more time studying/working... I wish I could retain information a bit better then I do now D: I have been to the library a bit more now because I'm slowly finding it harder and harder to work at home, there are just so many distractions. Since at the library you're not allowed certain foods, loud sounds, and everyone else is working around it's helping me keep focused on the task on hand. I'm hoping this weekend I can catch up on a couple of things that I'm behind on. On that note, the situation on housing; Lee and I have a few hundred of tours this weekend so I hope we can figure it out by this weekend! There have been really nice pictures of places, but since the last tour we had was a bit disappointment it got us both kind of down... We'll find a place! I even made a spreadsheet for the housing information that I have right now: address, rent, contact info, number of rooms/bathrooms... etc... I'm awful! It does make me feel good, being organized that is. (:

Housing

Hi :) So, I slept over at Jae's last night and we didn't fall asleep until around 7 in the morning... I felt bad for Jae who had to get up at 8 to make it to his 8.30 class X3 but it's not my fault, honest!! Neways... this happens a lot :P so I guess he's use to it? Hmm, I just like his bed more I guess~ mine has remained unslept in quite a bit lately... it's turning into a nice clothing storage area. I don't even need to hang my coat :)

On a side note, I've become quite addicted to Desperate Housewives. It's a bit like Gossip Girl cept with a different cast and different setting. Still, it's the same general "who's sleeping with who", "Omg! is she cheating on him?" plot line with a bit of murder mystery thrown in. Eva Longoria is stunningly gorgeous though :) I've been fangirling over her looks in the 8 episodes I have managed to chug down in less than a day.

Me and Becca went to look at houses for Fall 2010 in the evening. We meet Sam's son, and took a look at 109 and 115 University Avenue West. Let's just say... it's not our first choice? The distance is great :) it's like a 5 minute walk from where we live now, but the places seems a little sketchy. Or maybe we're just not ones for basement rooms? 109 is definitely out of the question for us. The ceilings are low... and I cannot live there!!! 115 would be alright however, if we manage not to snag the rooms on the lower floor. It requires a group of 5 though, so we will have to confirm with Cindy and friends. We're hoping that 325 Lester Street works out better... Keep your fingers crossed for us!

Now, I have to eat as fast as I can ;) I've got a Williams study date with Jae~ unfortunately we will be doing math... if that's not a mood killer idk what is...

Grocery Shopping at Conestoga

You know that going grocery shopping at a mall only ends up in disaster right?

So, Lee and I went with our friend Kathy (who is awesome by the way) after classes last night. Waited in the cold to go grocery shopping because I feel bad about pestering my brother for a ride to the store every week. ): Let's get this straight, whenever we go to Conestoga Mall (one of the main malls in Waterloo) we always get distracted by the stores on the way to the Zehrs... This time we got distracted mainly by the shoe store Spring haha... Many shoes on sale with 3 girls; I think we all know how this ends up... Both Kathy and I found some gorgeous shoes on sale, but had to order them from another store because they were out of stock in our sizes (this meaning we have to go to the mall again in a couple of days haha...) So much for me not spending money until I find a job. ): I still haven't heard from anywhere and now I'm getting quite nervous...

Anyways! We decided to also get sidetracked on our quest for groceries by going to the restaurant Spring Rolls before heading to the grocery store. But the most exciting part wasn't the food but was the decor! I must admit it was quite pretty. It had a modern, clean cut look to it; it was fantastic! I think I got a couple of pictures on my phone to show you? I'll look for them later after I post this. The part that the 3 of us loved most (don't judge us when I type this) was the bathroom! Instead of the classic stalled bathroom, there were individual rooms, each very gorgeous! I wished I'd brought my actual camera to take pictures of it.... ;_; I want to go again just to take pictures hahaha...

After dinner, we head through the cold because the mall was closed by then, to the Zehrs. Some how Lee and I spent about half of what we normally do?! We both think it was because of Kathy's influence (we can't buy anything useless or else she would judgeee!) We successfully only bought $40 worth of food!

We then went back outside with our cart to the bus terminal (which is all the way on the other side of the mall) and waited for 45 mins in the cold! Ah! I never want to do that again. The buses only come once a hour (10:15pm, 11:15pm) and we just happened to miss the 10:15 one... Note to self... aim to finish groceries by 10:00pm! D:

Now all I need to do is wait for my shoes... and while I do that i'm looking for housing for next year and booking some tours (notice how the shoes took priority?! (: ). Wish us luck!!!

Cleaning Day

Hi,

So after sleeping at five a.m last night, I woke up at two p.m today to the sounds of Lady Gaga blasting from our living room. Becca decided to clean... I'm still in a bit of a shock at how neat our place looks! It's like moving day all over again. Michelle is away this weekend, and therefore Becca decided that it was a perfect time to stash away her three pairs of boots so that she could mop. Of course, me being the lazy butt that I am, remained seated behind the laptop watching in amusement the entire time.

Gosh, is Becca ever hard working -_-; or maybe I'm just a bad roommate? Hmm... we'll stick to the former. Anyways, the fridge is now spotless, as is our kitchen counter, floors, and washroom. *yay* Washroom... yes... the one we haven't cleaned since we got here (don't judge us!)

Here is a picture of said cleaning in the process:

Becca and I like to wear heels when we do mundane chores like cleaning and laundry, it makes us feel more glamorous :)!

Everything was moved to the dining table while she was cleaning... there's Leslie, our rice cooker, as well as Erika's bottle of expired diet Pepsi which I swear has been in the living room for months... Oh well, at least it's not growing mold like the left overs Michelle forgot about at the bottom of our fridge. Thank you Becca X3! for having the courage to remove the sketchy brown stain, which shall remain unidentified.

Neways, to sum it up, today was a very very lazy day. However I did enjoy doing nothing, it was nice to take a break from relationship drama for a bit and just let my mind rot. What a way to spend my Saturday.

Tomorrow... maybe I'll clean my room :)

Tofu and Vegetables with Peanut Sauce

Rebecca here; I tried a new recipe today. Recently I've been more and more interested in cooking tofu (no idea really) and I had a hard time thinking about what to do with it instead of just doing a plain stir fry with soy sauce. So, I looked online and found this mini-recipe for Peanut Sauce. I didn't follow it exactly but just followed the basics and added some sesame seeds and some chili oil. (:

Peanut Sauce
2 T - smooth peanut butter
2 T- soy sauce
1-2 cloves garlic, minced or chopped
1/4 C - water
1 t - brown sugar
juice from half a lemon (can be less, depending on your tastes)
+
2 t - sesame seeds
2 t - chili oil

In a non-stick pan, combine all ingredients, stirring constantly over medium heat until peanut butter has melted. You can do this in the microwave too, for about 30-40 seconds.

It turned out pretty good, I was mostly afraid of burning the sauce cause it has happened before when I attempted peanut butter noodles a year or so back. ): I should've added more chili oil as well, cause both Lee and I couldn't taste it at all! O: As for the tofu and vegetables, I added 3 bok choy, and 1 stem of broccoli. I soaked the tofu in soy for a bit before pan frying (I should've cut the tofu into smaller pieces D:)

Awesome, right? Loved it and have leftovers for tomorrow, it should taste better with white rice rather than scallop and shrimp fried rice (our leftovers from yesterday) Will make again!

Cheers,
- Rebecca

1st Post

Hey!
It feels so good to have finally started this (long overdue) blog!!!

Just a little history:
This blog is co-hosted by myself (Lee) and my long time friend and roomie - Becca Lamsky. We're students in the Arts program at the University of Waterloo (with too much time on our hands O.o?) After speaking about creating
a blog for months, we finally took initiative and got started! *yay* We'll mostly be posting about happenings in our daily lives and food *yum* since Becca is an awesome cook! I'll admit, most of the food posts that are soon to appear will be created by her hands but I do help as well!... on occasion ;)

Since this is the first post, I'll keep it short and sweet.
There will be more updates tomorrow! (and hopefully pictures too?)
I'm logging off to enjoy some quality time with the Internet - *nyah* after a week of mooching other people's, I finally have a laptop to myself for a night!!! Thank youuuuuu, Becca!

Jae:
Hope you have fun in Toronto! *love love*
